What's New in JW Player 5.8

The JW Player 5.8 release is another step in establishing the JW Player as the leader in cross-platform video playback. While JW5.8 includes numerous enhancements & bug fixes, the three most exciting features are:

Ads in HTML5
JW Player 5.8 introduces support for HTML5 video advertising. Two of our existing Flash plugins now allow publishers to run video and companion ads on iOS devices (iPhone/iPad).
Google Interactive Media Ads (Google IMA) Plugin
YuMe Ads Plugin
Increased Stability in HTML5
Thanks to all the feedback you've given us, we've been able to improve the stability of HTML5 video playback. We're always working to seamlessly integrate Flash and HTML5 modes. For a detailed list of improvements, please see our developer site.
Secure Plugin Loading
Our plugins are now available over either HTTP or HTTPS. In version 5.8, the JW Player now detects if it is running on a secure page and loads its plugins accordingly. Publishers embedding on Facebook should find this particularly helpful.
